The SBI PO salary starts with a basic pay of Rs. 48,480, including 4 advance increments, in the pay scale of 48,480-2000/7-62,480-2340/2-67,190-2680/7-85,920. Along with the basic salary, SBI POs receive allowances such as Dearness Allowance, HRA/Lease rental, City Compensatory Allowance (CCA), medical benefits, and other perks. The total CTC at the Mumbai centre is around Rs. 18.67 lakh. The SBI PO salary is higher compared to other nationalized banks, making it a highly competitive exam.

Selection Process Of SBI PO Recruitment
I: SBI PO Prelims Exam
The SBI PO Prelims is an online objective test for 100 marks and includes three sections—English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability. Each section has a time limit of 20 minutes, making the total exam duration 1 hour. There is no sectional cut-off, and candidates are shortlisted based on total marks scored. Approximately 10 times the number of vacancies are shortlisted for the Mains. A penalty of 1/4th mark is applied for each incorrect answer.
II: SBI PO Mains Exam
The Mains consists of an Objective Test (200 marks) and a Descriptive Test (50 marks), conducted online in one sitting. The Objective Test includes four timed sections: Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis, General Awareness, and English. The Descriptive Test requires candidates to write emails, reports, or either a situation analysis or precis. Sectional cut-offs and a minimum aggregate score are mandatory to qualify. Candidates about 3 times the vacancies are shortlisted for the next phase.
III: Interview/GD
Shortlisted candidates undergo a Psychometric Test to assess their personality traits, followed by a Group Exercise (20 marks) and Personal Interview (30 marks). The psychometric test results may be shared with the interview panel to gain deeper insight into the candidate’s profile. This phase evaluates communication skills, team presence, confidence, and leadership qualities. Final selection depends on combined performance in Mains (Phase-II) and Phase-III, normalized to 100 marks.
